Former Powhatan Little League president accused of embezzling thousands over 3 years

POWHATAN COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — The former president of Powhatan Little League is accused of embezzling thousands of dollars over a span of several years.

Charles D. Green was indicted on Wednesday with three counts of felony embezzlement.

Prosecutors say Green embezzled nearly $6,000 in funds on multiple occasions beginning in January 2015 and running through February 2018.

Authorities launched an investigation in April 2018 after the Commonwealth Attorney and the Powhatan Sheriff’s Office received “numerous” complaints alleging accounting discrepancies while Green was president.

Green, who as the president of the little league from 2014 until his resignation in February 2018, turned himself in to the sheriff’s office on Wednesday. He remains on bond pending his trial.
