Police: Wanted man flashed gun, entered woman’s home and demanded money

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Police in Chesterfield County are asking for the public’s help locating a man wanted in connection with an attempted armed robbery that occurred last November. 

The crime occurred at around 4 p.m. on November 23 at a residence in the 17000 block of Lansmill Drive. Police say the adult female victim heard a knock on her door, and when she opened it, she was met by an unknown male suspect who displayed a handgun, entered her home and demanded cash.

Police say the victim was able to flee from the residence and get help. The suspect, who has been identified as 34-year-old John L. Hargrave, also fled and remains on the loose.

Hargrave, of no permanent address, is described as a 6-foot-3, 155-pound white male with brown hair and brown eyes. He also has a tattoo on his neck and may have a beard.
